CCIN Day Out 24th July 2010

Chernobyl Children in Need (CCIN) Day Out 24th July 2010

6 young people from STEP who did the Walkley Midnight Walk to raise money for CCIN went on a day out to Cotswold Wildlife Park with 12 young people from Belarus. The young people are sponsored by host families who they stay with for a month in and around Swindon.

The group met at Supermarine Sports and Social Club and boarded the Barnes coach at 10.30am. At 12pm there was a special penguin feeding session just for the group and then after lunch more time to look round at all the animals - the lemurs, monkeys and meerkats being among the favourites!

Once the coach arrived back at Supermarine, the children were treated to a magic show and then pizza, sausages, chips and icecream. At the end, a Swindon Advertiser photographer took photos and the STEP young people presented CCIN with a cheque for 400 - the amount they raised for them on the night walk.

Thank you to Bob Barrett and the Rotary Club of Swindon Thamesdown for organising the event, everyone had a great day!
